Concept Maps
Concept maps is a literacy support tool that helps students see relationships between ideas. Concept maps can be used after reading as a tool to analyze and synthesize a text and as a prewriting tool to generate and organize ideas. The purpose behind the ideas dictates the type of concept map used to organize/generate the ideas. To describe or gather ideas, students would use a radial map. To compare/contrast ideas, students would use a double bubble map. To sequence ideas, students would use a sequence map. To show a cause-effect relationship, students would use a cause/effect map.
