Read Aloud/Shared Reading
Read alouds and shared readings are instructional practices that allow students to hear fluent and expressive readers read. Because someone else is reading the text, students are able to focus on comprehending, not decoding, the text. With a read aloud, students do not have the text in front of them, so they can focus solely on listening to the text. With a shared reading, students have the text in front of them, so they can follow along when the reader is reading.
